Great Time of Year to Fish

Great Time of Year to Fish

March 05, 2018 by

The fishing is heating up with Spring approaching.  Snook season is open and now is a good time to catch that elusive slot fish.  The Snook are making their way out of the rivers and creeks and staging up the backcountry.  Live Pilchards will be your best bet.  Artificial guys will be using top water plugs early morning and switching to subsurface plugs and soft plastics as the sun gets higher in the sky.

Redfish bite is picking up and we have been finding them under the mangroves on a high tide.  Live Pinfish under a popping cork or a live shrimp.  You can also skip jigs and soft plastics under the bushes.

Offshore we have been getting some good reports on King Mackerel being caught in 40' of water.  My bait of choice is a Blue Runner under a float or trolling spoons.  I am still finding Triple Tail on the swim buoy's along Fort Myers Beache.  I like to use live Pilchards for these isolated fish.

Now is the best time of the year to get out and enjoy some great weather and fishing.
